2 Years with Star Learners
What led you to the role of Innovation Manager for Star Learners?
I’m the kind of person who loves diving into complex problems and using critical thinking to solve them. With more than 16 years in the IT field, I’ve developed a passion for making IT work seamlessly for businesses to tackle their challenges head-on. Joining the team at Star Learners has opened up a whole new exciting phase in my IT career; one that’s all about innovation. I’m particularly thrilled about being part of a company that constantly pushes boundaries and seeks new ways to improve and transform how we work. The prospect of contributing to and driving these innovative initiatives as an Innovation Manager here excites me.
What’s a typical day like at work for you?
A typical day kicks off with me checking emails and having a quick look at what’s on my schedule. I then dive into meetings with colleagues and vendors, which forms a large part of the collaborative work that I do. The rest of the day is a mix of handling tasks like responding to IT requests, doing research and putting together reports.
I’m a big believer in the power of short breaks to keep my energy up and creative juices flowing. Often, I’ll step away from my table to do some light stretches or make myself a cup of hot beverage. Breaks like these help to refresh my mind and enable me to fulfill my tasks and responsibilities for the day.
How has Star Learners’ longevity and reputation in the early childhood education industry influenced the way you approach your role?
Being part of an organisation with a respected position in the early childhood industry has shaped my sense of responsibility and dedication to upholding and improving our reputation. In these 20 years, the organisation has also fostered a work culture that not only welcomes but truly appreciates innovation. This makes it easy for me to bring in fresh ideas, work closely with my colleagues and put creative solutions into action as I tackle challenges and improve our offerings.

What has been one of your most fulfilling experiences here?
One of the most fulfilling experiences I have had was working alongside various departments, including our centres, to bring the Intranet project to fruition. This project was instrumental in improving communication, efficiency and collaboration by establishing a centralised platform where employees could easily access company policies, information and other benefits. Through this project, I gained a deeper appreciation for Star Learners’ culture of inspiration and teamwork. It felt like I was working with a Family of Professionals who are committed to achieving a common goal.
What are your well wishes for Star Learners as we celebrate 20 Inspiring Years?
With the technology we have today, I’m confident we can keep expanding and establishing centres, even outside of Singapore. I’m excited about Star Learners’ mission to become Singapore’s best childcare brand and can’t wait to see us grow even bigger!
