This year’s Early Childhood Celebrations was a proud moment for Star Learners, with several of our centres shining brightly! Tampines West, Tanjong Pagar and Sembawang Way earned their SPARK Certifications, while Star Learners @ Elias was awarded the SPARK (Commendation). Star Learners @ Ang Mo Kio also marked an inspiring milestone with 10 years of long-standing commitment to community service through the Start Small Dream Big initiative. Adding to the joyous occasion, Goh Yun Xi from Star Learners @ Pasir Ris was celebrated as a finalist for the Promising Preschool Educator Award. These achievements reflect the dedication of our educators and the strong support from our community — both of which inspire our young learners to thrive each day!

This year’s BTS Heroes’ Day marked our second annual celebration of unsung heroes behind the scenes — our cooks, cleaners, bus operators and admin staff. Their hard work keeps our preschools running smoothly, and this day was dedicated to showing our appreciation. Children performed, gifted handmade crafts and shared touching video montages. Even parents joined in with heartwarming video messages, all adding to a day filled with joy and gratitude for the dedicated heroes who keep our preschools thriving!

Our team brought The Deep Dark Wood to life at national libraries through a series of engaging storytelling sessions and creative crafts. Each session offered a sneak peek into the magic of our classrooms, allowing the children to discover the joy of learning through our unique literature-based curriculum!

Our annual Townhall was a vibrant celebration of our community, kicking off with engaging icebreaker games that set a lively tone for the morning. The excitement continued as our leadership team shared uplifting messages, and we also honoured our dedicated colleagues with Long Service and Star Awards for their contributions. During the Q&A segment, staff had the opportunity to engage directly with our leaders, reflecting our commitment to open communication within the organisation. We wrapped up the event with a delicious bento lunch, toasting to another successful year together!

A huge round of applause for Ms Woon Poh Leng, lovingly known as 尹老师 to the little ones at Star Learners @ Pasir Ris! She won the Outstanding Preschool Mother Tongue Language Teacher Award at MOE’s Mother Tongue Language Symposium. Known for sparking curiosity and joy in learning Mandarin through songs and interactive activities, she makes every lesson an adventure to look forward to. Thank you Ms Woon, for going above and beyond to inspire our little learners!

Our 2024 Mid-Year Parent Engagement Survey results are in, with 1,775 families rating us an impressive 9.11 out of 10! Our Net Promoter Score (NPS) also soared to 67 — the highest since 2021. Heartfelt thanks to our families for your trust and support; we’re inspired to keep making early learning the best it can be for our little ones.

Lucas, our beloved mascot, made his lively appearance at this year’s Not So Little Fair, adding to the excitement as children immersed themselves in hands-on activities inspired by the picture book ‘Hooray for Fish’. While children enjoyed our engaging ‘classroom’ setup, parents took the opportunity to dive deep into our programmes and see how we prepare little ones for the big world of formal schooling and beyond.

At the Early Childhood Celebrations and Conference 2023 organised by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), Star Learners had a reason to celebrate! Six of our centres received their renewed SPARK Certifications, with two being awarded Commendation! In addition, we’re proud to share that one of our Centre Leaders, Soh Aiwen of Star Learners @ Thomson, was one of the finalists for the ECDA Promising Early Childhood Leader award.

These accolades recognise our commitment to providing quality care and education, made possible through the hard work and dedication of our educators and staff, the enthusiasm of our young learners and the support of their parents. On 20 October, Star Learners celebrated our inaugural BTS Heroes’ Day, a day dedicated to our unsung heroes who work tirelessly Behind-The-Scenes, ensuring the smooth operation of our preschools. From the touching notes and drawings shared by our young learners and their parents, to the charming performances and heartfelt gestures of gratitude, the depth of appreciation for our support staff was palpable.

We extend our sincere thanks to our staff, our children and their families for their enthusiasm and unwavering support, which contributed to the success of our first-ever BTS Heroes’ Day. We look forward to ensuring our everyday heroes receive the appreciation they rightfully deserve each year!

At Star Learners, we’re serious about our mission of Inspiring Heroes – and having a blast while at it! Just look at how we let our hair down at our 20th Anniversary Dinner. More than a milestone, it was a vibrant showcase of our fun-loving spirit, proving that as we work hard, we play hard too! The theme, Heroes’ Wonderland, pays tribute to our literature-based curriculum and honours the heroes in our midst – our educators, who dedicate themselves to inspiring our little ones every single day.

A heartfelt shout-out to our extraordinary Star Learners team and all who have shared this remarkable journey with us. Here’s to many more years of shared success, continued growth and moments to celebrate!

In a ceremony held in July, we presented long service awards to over 70 of our dedicated staff members who have been with us for 5, 10 and 15 years. We also presented our annual Star Awards to outstanding individuals who have showcased attributes of Character, Confidence and/ or Creativity in their respective roles. Congratulations to all our deserving award recipients! Continue to fly our Star Learners flag up high!

Congratulations to our Chinese teachers Su Qi, Hao Juanjuan and Wang Xia from Star Learners @ one-north for winning the Commendation award at the Storytelling Aids Competition for Preschool Chinese Language Teachers! Inspired by our nation’s history as a major trading port, the team ingeniously crafted a storytelling tool that showcased Singapore’s significance along the Maritime Silk Road. Along with harnessing the power of stories, they used this tool to immerse children in tales of our ancestors’ courageous voyages and introduced the idea of barter trade to them.

To kickstart celebrations for Star Learners’ 20th, we launched our anniversary webpage along with staff from our 43 centres and in corporate functions. Some teams got really creative with our commemorative merchandise, through TikTok-worthy clips and choreographed dance moves! Check out a snippet of what went down here. Now, we’re all counting down to the much-awaited 20th Anniversary Dinner, happening 31 August! We hear that a Wonderland awaits!

Together with National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC), we offered a unique learning experience to over 60 NIEC students as part of their orientation week. Three of our centres (Ang Mo Kio, Sembawang Place and Yung Ho) played host to the students on a Sectoral Learning Journey and gave them an exclusive peek into the magic that happens in our classrooms. Our educators warmly welcomed the students and provided them with the chance to ask them anything under the sun on the early childhood industry. We had a blast hosting our guests, and can’t wait for more exciting visits to come!

Our Star Learners mascots, Lucas and Sophie, at their first public appearance! High fives were given and hugs were exchanged with the little ones, as interested parents learnt more about our infant and child care programmes at Not So Little fair, a two-day event at Suntec Convention Hall.

Educators often read to children, but how often are they read to? As part of our Lunchtime staff engagement sessions, our team of Curriculum Specialists took turns to read and share insights on their favourite books, to our educators island-wide. Part inspiring, part motivating — the educators were thoroughly engaged and enjoyed these readalouds tremendously! We even had our CEO, Meng Wei, as one of our guest readers. Needless to say, it was one of the most popular sessions with over a hundred educators logging on to listen to his storytelling!

After two years of virtual townhalls, our over 600-strong staff finally could come together for an in-person event! We wrapped up the year together and counted our wins, both big and little. Staff members also had their burning questions answered directly by our CEO, Meng Wei, and other members of the leadership team. The event ended off on the sweetest note with long queues for traditional ice cream, straight from the cart!

As part of the line-up at this year’s Asian Festival of Children’s Content (AFCC), our colleagues Aiwen (Principal, Star Learners @ Thomson) and Stephanie (Senior Curriculum Specialist) shared how we, at Star Learners, employ picturebooks to promote inclusion! They focused on strategies that can be used during storytelling to introduce abstract topics to children, and the various possibilities in which discussions with the little ones can unfold.

We’re also proud to share that their presentation became the top three most viewed resources for AFCC 2022!

Star Learners is now a part of people&baby group, an extensive worldwide network of day cares and kindergartens. Together with more than 12,000 other early childhood professionals in 12 countries, we inspire the next generation of children all over the world.

Our ads have hit town! Spot our latest ad installations at the North-East Line platform of one of Singapore’s busiest MRT stations, Dhoby Ghaut. This ad series profiles how our literature-based curriculum shapes our children into the next generation of HEROes – ones who care for their world and beyond.

What a spectacular celebration it was for the Class of 2024! Themed “Oh, The Places We’ll Go!”, this year’s concert brought together children from every level – Playgroup to Kindergarten 2 – taking us on a delightful adventure through their heartfelt performances.

The spotlight shone brightest on our 750 Kindergarten 2 graduates, as they took their final bow, ready to set off on exciting new adventures in primary school. The places they’ll go? We can’t wait to see!

This year’s Star Project ignited the spirit of adventure in our little ones as they ventured beyond the classroom. Titled ‘Adventures Abound, All Aboard!’, the project encouraged children to rediscover Singapore through fresh eyes, uncovering hidden gems and secrets in the everyday. As our little adventurers explored familiar sights, they developed a newfound sense of wonder, noticing details they may have overlooked previously. Through their journeys, they deepened their appreciation for their surroundings, fostering a stronger sense of belonging and pride in their home!

Congratulations to the amazing Class of 2023! Our Star Learners parents and guests enjoyed every moment of the concert. Our brave performers, from Playgroup to Kindergarteners, dazzled on stage! Here’s to wishing our 700 K2 graduands all the best as they embark on their primary school journey.

Our Star Learners children embarked on a meaningful journey to NTUC Health Senior Day Care, bringing joy and smiles to our beloved seniors. They engaged in conversations, shared stories and played handcrafted games that they created with their teachers.⁠ ⁠ The incredible experience is part of the ‘Start Small Dream Big’ initiative, where our little ones are learning invaluable lessons in kindness, compassion, and the joy of giving back!⁠ It was beautiful witnessing generations coming together and fostering warm and genuine connections.

On Book Club Day, our K1 and K2 children embarked on a delightful literary journey with “My Grandfather’s Rojak” by Emily Lim-Leh (@emilylimleh_writes). We had the incredible honour of hosting the talented author for a special book talk session, where children and parents alike were captivated by her newest picture book. Our little bookworms showcased their creativity too; they rolled up their sleeves and brought the story to life by creating their very own version of rojak in class! Here’s to cultivating a love for both picturebooks and culinary adventures!⁠

Our annual Star Project this year was dedicated to inspiring young inventors, with “The Most Magnificent Thing” by Ashley Spires. Our children collaborated across levels, tinkered and created delightful games, inventions and even designed spaces using cardboard and craft materials. It was amazing to see what they could achieve when they put their ideas together and persevered to bring their magnificent project to fruition, just like the protagonist in the book!⁠

As part of Start Small Dream Big 2023 project, Star Learners @ Sengkang Sports Centre teamed up with community champions to host a carnival to spread the power of kindness. The children and their families were treated to an afternoon of fun as they performed, played, and raised food donations to support the elderly and less fortunate. What an incredible way to bond and sow seeds of kindness, love and compassion together with the community!⁠

We are pleased to announce an exciting partnership with Lion City Sailors Football School! This school is committed to introducing the game to youths in Singapore with emphasis on developing their skills via programmes that promise fun, games, and exposure.

To kick off this partnership, Lion City Sailors Football School offered Star Learners families a once-in-a-lifetime chance to watch the Lion City Sailors vs Borussia Dortmund game, as well as the opportunity to participate in an exclusive football clinic to grow their passion for the beautiful game.

Every year, our children collaborate as a centre on a project that taps into their creativity, imagination and innovation. This year, we asked our Thought Leaders, “What would it be like if you built a school?” From sketching the blueprint to presenting their ideas and designing the model, our little ones learnt that great plans can be achieved when they put their heads and hearts together!

As strong believers in the power of picturebooks, we join the National Library Board’s mission to introduce new and exciting reads to our children via the ‘A Book A Day’ reading campaign. Every morning, our little ones are treated to story reading sessions by our educators from a wide selection of books from our Book Nooks and the public libraries. What a refreshing way to start the day!
